About us
The Butcher, The Baker, The Ice Cream Maker was born out of a love of food and farming shared between two local families, Steve and Tracey McKendrick from Rangemoor and James and Mavis Daw and their daughter Elly whose farm is at Blithbury.
At The Butcher, The Baker, The Ice Cream Maker we are proud of the high quality of the produce we sell. Most of our free-range meats are from our own local farm where Elly Daw raises Hampshire Down, Texel and Charolais lambs, native Red Poll, Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cattle and Bronze turkeys. Our Woodland Pork is outdoor reared by Steven and James and the resulting bacon is home cured. We even smoke it ourselves too. Upstairs in the kitchen we hand bake our own range of delicious meat pies, pork pies, pasties, sausage rolls and turnovers. Downstairs, our skilled butchers present a dazzling array of meats alongside home produced sausages, burgers, bacon and cooked meats.
Also downstairs, in The Barn you will find locally baked artisan bread from a long-established local family firm, Hindleys, and if you like to bake your own, try our wonderful range of flours from Wessex Mill. Most people love a real home-made cake and Garden Farm Cakes are exactly that. Made by Tracey. At home. We stock fresh fruit and vegetables, locally grown where possible and choosing what is best and freshest on the day. Our range of sauces, condiments and chutneys come from a host of small producers. The picture is completed by our small but interesting range of carefully chosen kitchenware and linens and last but not least, fabulous Red Lion Farm Ice Cream. Alison Hollinshead makes this ice cream herself on the farm outside Stafford using the milk from her own herd of Jersey cows. It is nothing short of stunning.
